ERP companies are being sold a false choice.
Some agencies say traditional SEO is dead and every brand now needs a separate AEO or GEO program. Others dismiss AI search and keep reporting only ten blue links.
Both positions are weak. Buyers now research through Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and other tools. The platforms differ, but they still need accessible information, useful pages and evidence they can trust.
Our Semrush research found combined UK and US monthly estimates of 3,810 for AI search optimization, 1,170 for AI search visibility and 560 for SEO for software companies. The commercial opportunity is real. The amount of unsupported advice in the market is also real.
What Is AI Search Optimization for an ERP Company?
AI search optimization is the work used to make an ERP company easier to discover, understand, verify and cite across traditional search and AI-generated answers. It includes technical SEO, content planning, direct-answer structure, entity consistency, first-party proof, relevant third-party mentions and prompt-based measurement.
It does not mean writing for robots. The pages still need to help ERP buyers make decisions.
SEO vs AEO vs GEO
| Discipline | Primary job | Typical work | Useful outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| SEO | Help search engines crawl, index, understand and rank relevant pages | Technical health, architecture, search intent, content, internal links, authority and page experience | Qualified impressions, rankings, clicks and conversions |
| AEO | Make answers easier to retrieve and use | Buyer questions, direct answers, clear sections, definitions, comparisons, FAQs and supporting evidence | Answer visibility, featured results, accurate summaries and assisted conversions |
| GEO | Improve visibility inside generative answers and recommendations | Source eligibility, prompt coverage, entity facts, citation-worthy content, off-site corroboration and monitoring | Mentions, cited URLs, description accuracy and referral traffic |
The overlap is large. A page blocked from crawling does not become visible because an agency calls the work GEO. A vague article does not become useful because it has FAQ schema. A trusted brand does not stay visible if its product, service and partner information is inconsistent.
Google’s Position Is Clear: SEO Still Matters
Google’s current guidance says its generative search features depend on core Search systems and use methods such as retrieval-augmented generation and query fan-out. The company tells site owners to keep following core SEO practices and create useful, original content.
Source check: The guide covers crawlability, indexing, unique content, page experience, multimodal content, measurement and myths around AEO and GEO. See Google Search Central’s generative AI optimization guide.
Google also rejects several popular shortcuts for its own AI search features. You do not need a special AI text file, forced content chunking, excessive structured data or a rewrite of every page purely for AI. Structured data should describe visible content and support an eligible search feature, not act as a magic citation switch.
This does not mean every AI platform works exactly like Google. It means an ERP company should not damage its core search program while chasing unproven hacks.
1. Make the Site Eligible to Be Retrieved
Start with access. Check whether important pages can be reached by search and AI crawlers.
- Important pages return a successful status and do not carry noindex directives
- robots.txt does not accidentally block relevant crawlers
- Canonical tags point to the intended version
- XML sitemaps contain current indexable URLs
- Key content exists in accessible HTML
- CDN or WAF rules do not challenge legitimate bots
- Internal links connect commercial and supporting pages
- Server logs show whether crawlers can reach the content
Do not assume a page is accessible because it opens in your browser. A WAF can allow a normal visitor and block a crawler. A JavaScript component can display content visually while making the important answer hard to retrieve.
2. Build an ERP Entity and Fact Sheet
AI answers become unreliable when the company describes itself differently across the homepage, partner listings, social profiles, directories and press coverage.
Create one controlled fact sheet covering:
- Legal and trading name
- Website and canonical domain
- What the company sells
- Customer types and sectors
- ERP platforms and the exact relationship to each
- Locations and markets served
- Founders and senior specialists
- Verified certifications and partner status
- Support and delivery model
- Approved proof and customer evidence
Use the same facts everywhere while allowing the wording to fit each channel. Remove outdated service descriptions and unsupported “leading provider” claims.
3. Research Buyer Prompts, Not Only Keywords
Keyword tools show how people search in conventional search engines. Prompt research shows the larger questions buyers ask AI systems.
Build prompts around:
- Supplier discovery: Which Dynamics 365 partners support manufacturers in the UK?
- Comparison: What should I compare when choosing an ERP implementation partner?
- Risk: How can a company reduce data-migration risk during an ERP project?
- Service fit: When should an ERP vendor use an external marketing and web team?
- Decision support: What proof should an ERP consultancy show before discovery?
- Commercial intent: Which agencies provide SEO and AI visibility for ERP companies?
Do not optimize one article for all of them. Map each prompt to the page type that can answer it properly: service page, industry page, comparison, guide, success story, team page or technical resource.
4. Publish Content an AI System Has a Reason to Cite
Generic summaries are weak source material. A page becomes more useful when it contains information that is specific, checkable and difficult to replace.
- Original benchmarks or audits
- A named methodology
- Real screenshots and annotated examples
- Templates, calculators and scorecards
- Technical explanations reviewed by a qualified person
- Clear responsibility maps
- Pricing or scope information
- Documented customer evidence
- Honest limitations and cases where the advice does not apply
For this ERP cluster, NexaFlow should publish the actual readiness scorecard, crawler checklist and prompt tracker promised in the articles. Mentioning a tool that does not exist is worse than omitting it.
5. Structure Pages for Direct Answers and Full Context
Start important sections with a direct answer, then add evidence, examples and limitations. This helps readers and makes the section understandable when retrieved separately.
Weak section opening
The digital environment is changing rapidly and businesses must consider a range of new approaches to remain competitive.
Stronger section opening
ERP companies improve AI search visibility by making their commercial pages crawlable, answering buyer questions clearly and supporting claims with verifiable first-party and third-party evidence.
Use descriptive headings, short paragraphs, lists for criteria and tables for comparisons. Do not split one answer into ten artificial 50-word fragments. Clarity matters; a made-up word-count formula does not.
6. Strengthen Commercial Pages, Not Only Blogs
AI visibility is not a blogging competition. If a buyer asks for an ERP marketing agency, the service and industry pages are likely more useful sources than a broad educational article.
Review the homepage, service pages, pricing, team, success stories and contact journey. Each should state the audience, scope, evidence and next step clearly.
For NexaFlow, the AI cluster should point into the SEO, AEO and AI visibility service, the current plans and a future seller-focused ERP industry page. Publishing the blogs before the commercial path exists would waste the intent.
7. Earn Relevant Third-Party Corroboration
A company cannot build all authority on its own domain. Relevant external sources help buyers and AI systems verify that the business exists and is associated with the subject.
- Official vendor or partner directories
- Industry associations
- Customer websites and approved case studies
- Podcasts and webinars with named specialists
- Relevant publications
- Event speaker pages
- Accurate company profiles and review platforms
Do not buy fake mentions, mass directory listings or articles written only to repeat the brand name. A small number of relevant, accurate references is stronger than a large pile of junk.
8. Measure AI Visibility as a Trend
| Measure | Method | Limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt mention rate | Run a fixed set of buyer-realistic prompts on a schedule | Results can change by model, account, location and time |
| Citation share | Record cited domains and URLs for each prompt | A mention may appear without a link |
| Description accuracy | Compare the answer with the approved fact sheet | An accurate description is useful even when it is not a referral |
| Referral traffic | Track platform referrals in analytics | Dark traffic and zero-click research remain undercounted |
| Search performance | Use Search Console and rank tracking for relevant page clusters | AI and conventional results may be reported differently |
| Commercial outcomes | Connect content touches to qualified enquiries and opportunities | Long ERP sales require assisted attribution |
Do not sell a single screenshot as proof that the brand now “ranks in AI.” Use a repeatable prompt set and report changes with the platform and date.
A 90-Day SEO, AEO and GEO Plan for an ERP Seller
- Days 1–30: audit technical access, indexation, site architecture, entity facts, commercial pages and the current prompt baseline.
- Days 31–60: repair the highest-value pages, build founder and proof pages, publish the main ERP AI-search guide and create the promised scorecard.
- Days 61–90: publish the platform and service articles, distribute through founders and ecosystem channels, earn relevant mentions and compare results with the baseline.
The work should produce better pages even if an AI platform changes its interface. If the only output is a prompt-tracking dashboard, the program is too shallow.
The Founder and Reviewer Standard
E-E-A-T is not a certification or a schema type. The practical job is to show who created the advice, why they are qualified to discuss it, what evidence supports it and when a specialist review is required.
NexaFlow can speak credibly about websites, SEO, content systems, MSP buyer behavior, cloud, Azure and Microsoft environments. It should not claim to be an ERP implementation authority. Product-specific statements should be reviewed by an ERP practitioner before publication.
Build an ERP AI Visibility Topic Map
The content program should cover the questions that establish both commercial fit and subject knowledge. Use a small number of strong page groups.
| Group | Pages | Evidence required |
|---|---|---|
| Company and service | Homepage, ERP industry page, SEO and AI service, pricing and contact | Scope, process, fit, exclusions and team |
| ERP marketing | Strategy, lead generation, website, brand and sales enablement | Original frameworks, examples and service connection |
| AI visibility | SEO/AEO/GEO pillar, ChatGPT guide and service buyer guide | Official sources, crawler checks, prompt data and measurement |
| Proof | Success stories, audits, recent work and founder pages | Approved facts, screenshots, outcomes and limitations |
| Technical trust | Crawler access, Webflow SEO, analytics and Microsoft or Azure context | Named reviewer and current documentation |
Do not create a separate article for every synonym. The pillar should absorb closely related terms such as AEO vs SEO and GEO vs SEO when the intent is the same.
Use a Review Workflow That Supports E-E-A-T
- Research owner: documents keywords, prompts, sources and competitor gaps.
- Writer: creates the direct answer, reasoning, examples and practical framework.
- Subject reviewer: checks ERP, Microsoft, Azure or technical statements within their real competence.
- Commercial reviewer: confirms the service, plan, CTA and limitations are accurate.
- Editor: checks clarity, duplication, internal links, metadata and accessibility.
- Publisher: records the date, author, reviewer and future refresh trigger.
The workflow should leave evidence. Store source links, interview notes and approvals with the brief so a future editor can tell why a claim exists.
Refresh Content When the Source Changes
AI-search guidance is time-sensitive. Monitor the official crawler documentation, Google Search Central changes, platform referral behavior and the site’s own logs.
Add refresh triggers rather than relying only on an annual calendar:
- A platform changes crawler names, IP ranges or controls
- Google changes reporting for generative search
- A referenced product or feature changes
- The company’s service or plan changes
- Prompt tests reveal a repeated factual error
- Search Console shows a page being tested for a new commercial query
Update the visible date when the content has been materially reviewed, not when someone changes one sentence to make the article look current.
Use Original Assets as Source Material
The promised assets should exist as usable tools, not decorative images.
- AI visibility readiness scorecard: technical access, commercial pages, entity facts, content, authority and measurement
- 25-prompt tracker: platform, model, location, answer, mention, citation, accuracy and notes
- Crawler checklist: user agent, official IP source, robots, WAF, status, log evidence and owner
- Claim register: claim, source, owner, approval and affected URLs
Publish enough of the method in HTML that the article remains useful without a download. The asset should help the reader apply it, not hold the answer hostage.
